The Dante's Inferno Test has banished you to the Third Level of Hell!
Here is how you matched up against all the levels:
LevelScore
Purgatory (Repenting Believers)Low
Level 1 - Limbo (Virtuous Non-Believers)Very Low
Level 2 (Lustful)Moderate
Level 3 (Gluttonous)High
Level 4 (Prodigal and Avaricious)High
Level 5 (Wrathful and Gloomy)Low
Level 6 - The City of Dis (Heretics)Very Low

I'm not sure if this is good or bad...

Although Deppo, how I come to be in a deeper circle of hell than you is beyond me!

When my brain is functioning again and I don't have as much work to do, I'll update you all on Riga.

My normality [Dec. 5th, 2006|09:48 am]
You Are 42% Strange!

You are a bit strange, though still more normal than strange. You definitely have some quirks, don't get me wrong. But you aren't exactly freaking out old ladies on the street. It's okay though, you've got a healthy mixture of strangeness and normality.

How Strange Are You?

Ha! I'm only 42% strange, that makes me almost normal!!

Muse [Nov. 18th, 2006|12:20 am]
Muse played at the ice stadium back in Nottingham tonight, amazing gig!

My ears are still ringing...I love it when that happens after a gig, it kinda feels like I have a goldfish bowl/astronaut's helmet on over my head that is making all the noises dull. hehehe

There were loads of very impressive outer space themed lights going on, and plenty of jumping up and down like complete crazies. Got very crushed and will almost certainly be very bruised tomorrow, but it was worth it because the music was really good and the whole gig was really impressive. Someone did apologise for standing on my toes though, I thought that was really funny cause we were in a crowd of thousands of people who were all jumping and crushing one another, but he was saying sorry to everyone he hurt. How very British, hehe we're so nice! Plus he had really crazy hair.

Foreignland [Nov. 11th, 2006|12:13 am]
You may not want to read this Deppo. It's only going to make you even more patriotic! :-P and sorry everyone else, I know this is long!

Iceland is amazing!! Flight out there was delayed because the winds in Keflavik were too high for the plane to land, which means they were around 80mph. The airport looks like it's on the moon, and as you fly in you can see mountains and snow and generally impressive scenery that makes you stop and stare in awe (did that plenty of times in the last few days!). Catching the bus into uni one day I was gobsmacked at the huge towering icy mountains as a backdrop - slightly different view on the way into my uni, London rush-hour!

Went for a tour round tourist sites on Weds, because Gudrun had to go to uni and has (surprisingly) seen the things a few times before. It just happened to coincide with the first day snow fell properly, so everything was white (and freezing). I lack the words to describe any of the things I saw well enough to do justice to them, so you're all going to have to look at my photos, or better yet see for yourselves. That evening me, Gudrun, and her friend Thorhildur (sp?? sorry...) had our own tour of Reykjavik, conducted by them. It's so much more interesting to go round a city with people who actually live there and know about the place! Plus those two between them have studied enough to know all there is to know (nearly) about the place and the history and folklore etc, so that was really good fun.

Yesterday we went for a walk round Seltjarnarnes. I was only just not freezing to death despite the many many layers, but it was so cool to just walk round and look at all the amazing views, plus we explored on the beach for a bit and found shells to make into spoons! Had a "traditional" evening meal - sheep's head with brennivin (icelandic schnapps, or so it tells me). Once I got over the fact that there was a head on the plate (takes some getting used to, I don't mind, I'm just not used to my food actually looking at me!!) it actually tasted really good. I even snapped the jaw in half by accident trying to look at the teeth...

On the flight back I was delayed again. Surprisingly enough, because of the 80mph winds again. I think somebody somewhere is trying to tell me something... But we did eventually manage to get on the runway, although we had to wait for about 20mins because the new double-decker airbus was being tested by landing in ridiculously strong winds. Reassuring... Then there was a huge snowstorm while we were waiting, and the pilot had to come back into the cabin and check the wings to make sure they weren't "contaminated". Not with some complicated instrument, but with his eyes! Boy did that make me feel confident about the flight!!

Also met loads of totally insane but very cool icelanders, explored, and generally decided I really really like the place. I'll post photos on facebook when I have the time, hopefully soon. Definitely going back again, maybe in Summer next time so I can see what it's like to have light at 1am...

PS (can I put PSes in a journal??) didn't say as many sheep as I thought I would. Maybe it's a conspiracy - they pretend they have many sheep so we're all afraid of them. Aha.

OK, maybe I shouldn't leave it so long between posts, but this summer has been pretty hectic so far!

I've been home...nearly 2 months now, although 'home' just means not in London. Since coming back I've been to Berlin, Cornwall, Wales, Corsica and back to London, and next Monday I'm going to France.

Berlin was brilliant, if a bit quirky and German. Having grown up in England with 24-hour supermarkets, one of the major things that threw me was that nothing was open between Saturday lunchtime and Monday morning. This is the capital city for heaven's sake, why is nothing open?! We were there for the world cup too, so we went to the Tiergarten to watch Germany vs Ecuador. After going I decided to support Germany in the world cup. This didn't go down well with my fellow countrymen, but the Germans were being all united and friendly about their support, the English were often being violent and arrogant. Ah well, neither of them actually won so it didn't matter.

Just got back from Corsica (island South of France) with my family. It was very relaxing - did plenty of sunbathing and swimming, the odd bit of climbing mountains, and lots of eating! As usual it's nice to be home, but it would also have been nice to stay on a bit longer.

Better get on with the organising...

[Current Location |Nottingham]

So I'm home. How bizarre. I don't think it will really sink in for a few weeks, by which time I won't be here anyway. It doesn't feel at all like 8½ months since I moved to London, in fact it barely seems a month. I didn't really feel ready to leave, and this was proven last night when I didn't get to sleep until 5:30 and was up again at 7. Who would have thought that such a tiny room could hold so much stuff, or take so much tidying?!

I'm going to miss living there. Maybe not the building, although I think I'll look back on it more fondly than I thought of it when I actually lived there, but the people and the atmosphere, and the fact that you could just wander up the stairs/down the corridor/across the road to see your friends. I guess I'll get to live in halls again in 3rd year, but I'm not sure the experience is quite the same in Germany and Romania... Still, I'm going to appreciate the kitchen and bathroom back home for a good few weeks!

I'm also going to miss how much there was to do there. I never really got bored with what there was to do in Nottingham, but there's so much more to do in London that I think in contrast living back here is going to feel a little like living in a small village. For a while at least. Although at least the small village has water I can drink and air I can breathe. Still, even just wandering around getting lost in London is fun, even if you do eventually run out of directions to walk in where you can still get lost!

Hmmm, plenty of other stuff I will and won't miss, but unpacking is calling to me. The car is packed Mary-Poppins-Bag-like with all of my stuff and all but about 30kg of Deppomaniac's (someone teach me to do that...?), and it all has to go somewhere...

[music |None - it's 9am, I would be shot]

I'm awake and I shouldn't be yet (9am, what was I thinking?!). Despite not having slept very much in the last few days, I'm not as tired as I ought to be. I suppose it will all catch up on me when I go home on Saturday, but for now I'm pretty wide awake...

Spent the last few days wandering round london going in every last damn estate agent known to man in an attempt to find somewhere to live next year. You'd think it would be relatively easy to find somewhere to live here. There are a lot of houses. Unfortunately, none of them are located in Bloomsbury with 6 bedrooms and a rent of £50. Damn. The fact that everyone involved is moving back to Nottingham, Birmingham, France, Wales and Pakistan on Saturday won't help with finding a house, but hopefully something will materialise before September. Although there is a trailer park about 20 minutes walk from here (Euston) if things get really desperate...

Hectic week as well - doing all the fun stuff to do in London before everyone runs home. Today's plan is London Zoo, and tomorrow's is the Globe Theatre. Hmmmm, and at some point we have to fit in a trip to the Haagen Dazs restaurant. When am I supposed to pack?!

I've just got back from visiting [info]racsots in Sheffield, which for those of you who don't know is next to the peak district. While I was there, we went walking in the peaks. It really is beautiful out there, and after living in London for 7 months, it really is nice to be able to get into 'that nature stuff'. This being Britain, however, it rained while we were out. Not particularly unexpected, and only ever for about 10 minutes, but it's always nice when it doesn't rain.

Hmmm, why does it always rain here? I suppose it makes us happier when we do get nice weather, which is lucky really, because we don't get very much of it...

I'm definitely British though - still managed to enjoy wandering through the middle of nowhere despite the rain!

hmmmm, maybe I should post...

in fact, I definitely should, otherwise I will be forced to go and do useful things with my day such as eating and showering. Not good.

Came back to Nottingham yesterday, and I'm still struggling with the issue of where I now call home. My parents keep looking insulted when I refer to London as 'back home', but I guess it just is now, being where I live and all. This place (Nottingham) is still home too though, and my brain can't cope with 2 homes at once so it generally goes into shut-down mode.

Had a pretty hectic few weeks actually...basically lots of things kept coming up which mean I never got any work done, and I can't imagine I'm going to get much more done, what with going to see racsots today and being invaded by byxal77 and deppomaniac (nope, I don't know how to do that properly but never mind). Never mind, who needs a degree anyway?

I remember intending to post after a particularly random night last week, so I guess I'll tell the story now...

Went to the kitchen with Deppomaniac, only to discover that someone had been making glass in the ovens, so the whole place stank. I'd already eaten, but Deppomaniac wanted to get some food that was 'more exciting', so we went for a wander. We wandered and wandered until I was forcibly dragged into a book store and made to buy books. Damn. I've actually read one of the books now and it's very good (Bill Bryson - Notes from a Big Country), but that's beside the point. Kept walking as far as Leicester Square, where Deppomaniac decides that the exotic cuisine she would actually like to eat is McDonalds (Maccy Ds to all normal, non-foreign people...). Hmmm. Then we decided we wanted ice cream, so went to the Haagen Dazs (how IS that spelt?!) restaurant. Anyone who hasn't tried it and lives within 100 miles I recommend you go instantly. Fantastic place, although we were slightly disadvantaged in that Deppomaniac has given up chocolate for lent, and I can't eat ice cream at all. Still, raspberry sorbet is a fantastic thing...
We then went on a sort of crazy mini shopping trip, despite the fact that it was about 9:30. I'm guessing it was Thursday then - late opening hours. I have to stop buying things. I bought a present for a friend's baby, due in September. I keep buying baby things, somebody stop me.

Must stop typing and go get food...

I give in [Mar. 15th, 2006|12:06 pm]
Fine, fine, Deppomaniac may have a point - 138 weeks since I last posted on here is maybe a little excessive...

Not that I have that much to write, but I'll start typing anyway. Maybe I'll be inspired. Or maybe I'll be kicked off, as I'm currently logged on in the DMS Watson library (damn halls of residence, why won't you let me online?) on a computer that promises to log me off after 10 minutes. On the other hand I've been on here researching Grigore Alexandrescu (don't ask, it's too painful) for at least 20 now. Go me, cheating the system...

I'm still not entirely sure why I'm even up today. No lectures til 3, so no realy need to be out of bed much before 2:50. Ah well, I shall make the most out of my day by updating my livejournal. Very constructive.

Seeing as how I've not done anything today, and my brain is clouded from being up so early, I think I'll post something more interesting another day. Just posting to keep Deppomaniac happy (stop nudging me now!)

[mood | blah]
[music |the music stopped playing just not, but red hot chillies]

haven't written in here for ages, rachael just reminded me of it so i spent ages attempting to hack back into my own account, having forgotten both the username and the password.
almost a year since i last wrote in here...i guess that would be rightish, now i feel really guilty about not updating!
the last year...pretty eventful i guess, although mainly in the last few months. i have taken my GCSEs (big exams for Michael/any other american who doesn't understand the english system!!) and spent the last few months on 'study leave'. ha. no working, studying, nothing. just fun with my friends, and boyfriend - also a relatively new addition. i've been going out with william/will/billy etc for 3 months ish, and he's really cool. although i'm biased and supposed to think that!
shall try to keep up with update, if only for myself to look back on in a while, but anybody reading this can enjoy my wonderful life too!
